Marine Le Pen declared that she will not run in the presidential elections in France if the court in Paris imposes an electronic bracelet on her.

The leader of the far-right in France, Marine Le Pen, has announced that she will not participate in the presidential elections of 2027 if the Paris Court of Appeal imposes an electronic bracelet on her. She is contesting a ruling from March 2025, in which she was found guilty, along with other members of the National Rally Party, of the fraudulent use of European Parliament funds.

Le Pen emphasized that, although she could be admitted as a candidate, the impossibility of conducting a free campaign would make her candidacy unacceptable. In the event of a conviction, she could be banned from public office and subjected to house arrest.

Le Pen stated that she would appeal all available legal avenues if she cannot run. She also mentioned that, in the event she cannot run, her protégé, Jordan Bardella, could take over the candidacy. Le Pen considers herself the natural candidate of her camp, given her experience from previous campaigns.
