Maria Corina Machado, the leader of the opposition in Venezuela and recent winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, had a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which she expressed her support for Israel. Machado welcomed the return of Israeli hostages and appreciated Israel's actions against Iran, considering it a common threat.
Netanyahu congratulated her on the award she received and acknowledged her efforts in promoting democracy. Machado stated that if she comes to power, she will move the Venezuelan embassy from Israel to Jerusalem, a position similar to that of other pro-Israel Latin American leaders. She also wishes to bring Venezuela closer to Israel, in contrast to the current government that maintains relations with Iran. Machado's spokesperson did not provide additional comments.
