An unusual case from Turkey has led to a man being required to pay alimony and compensation to his wife after the court decided that he violated the obligation of marital loyalty through his behavior on social media. The woman, identified by the initials HB, accused her husband, SB, of humiliating her and spending excessive time on social media, appreciating photos of other women and leaving suggestive comments.

The court found that his behavior was repeated and public, not an isolated incident, and ruled in favor of the woman. The man will pay 1,000 Turkish lira per month as alimony and 60,000 Turkish lira in compensation. The court emphasized that online interactions can affect relationships and mentioned that such digital evidence will be increasingly used in divorce cases.
