The 'Madre Fire', the largest wildfire in California this year, broke out in San Luis Obispo County, quickly destroying more than 143 square kilometers in less than 24 hours. About 200 people have been evacuated and the blaze is threatening dozens of buildings. Governor Gavin Newsom has announced reinforcements to fight the fire, which is growing rapidly in severe drought conditions. Experts warn that fire risks will increase as summer progresses, as criticism of the Trump administration's budget cuts grows.
