Macron warns about the escalation of the conflict in Iraq

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for avoiding Iraq's involvement in the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of Iraq's and Kurdistan's sovereignty for regional stability. The statement was made after a phone call with Neshirvan Barzani, the president of the Kurdistan region, which was targeted by a drone attack.

Macron expressed concern over the resurgence of attacks on Iraqi institutions, mentioning that several raids, attributed to the United States and Israel, targeted pro-Iranian armed groups. These factions have claimed numerous drone and rocket attacks against the American military presence in Iraq and in other regions of the Middle East.
