During a joint press conference in Paphos, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, alongside the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, emphasized the importance of defending Cyprus for Europe, stating: "When Cyprus is attacked, Europe is attacked."

Macron announced that France will send two frigates as part of the European Union's naval mission to defend the Red Sea. He specified that the mission will be purely defensive and will require collaboration between European and non-European states. Additionally, Macron previously discussed the situation in the Middle East and Lebanon with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, highlighting France's commitment to regional security.
