The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, stated that it is time for Europeans to resume discussions with Vladimir Putin, in the context of the United States' efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Following a summit in Brussels, where the EU agreed to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros, Macron emphasized the importance of finding an effective dialogue framework.

He noted that other leaders, such as Donald Trump, have reestablished contact with Putin, suggesting that Europeans and Ukrainians should engage in a well-organized discussion with Russia. Macron mentioned that, although negotiations are ongoing, it is essential for Europeans to participate actively and transparently in these discussions.

The last conversation between Macron and Putin took place in July 2022, and the French president has been criticized for his previous contacts with the Russian leader following the invasion of Ukraine.
