During a visit to South Korea, French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the criticisms made by his American counterpart, Donald Trump, regarding the Macron couple. Macron stated that Trump's remarks are 'neither elegant nor appropriate' and added that they do not deserve a response.

Trump's criticisms were made in the context of a speech addressing the lack of support from European leaders, including Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, regarding the war in Iran. Trump mentioned that he contacted France and referred to a video recording from 2025, in which Macron's wife, Brigitte, seemed to be pushing the French president. Macron tried to downplay the incident, suggesting it was part of a disinformation campaign. This situation sparked discussions about tensions within NATO and international relations.
