French President Emmanuel Macron wants to impose age verification for users on social networks and to ban access for those under 15-16 years old, through a bill in 2026.

The bill will be submitted to parliament in January 2026, with the aim of reaching a consensus on this issue. Macron mentioned that Australia has already implemented similar measures, disconnecting hundreds of thousands of teenagers from social applications. He emphasized that excessive screen use affects educational performance and the mental health of young people.
