French President Emmanuel Macron praised on Wednesday, in Tokyo, the 'predictability' of Europe, in contrast to the unpredictability of the United States under Donald Trump's leadership, indirectly criticizing his decisions that led to a war in the Middle East without consulting allies. In an interview with Japanese business leaders, Macron emphasized that although Europe may seem slower, its stability is valuable in these tumultuous times.
He mentioned the economic impact of the conflict in the Middle East on Japan, which relies on oil imports from this region. Macron reaffirmed Europe's commitment to international law and negotiated solutions, urging Japanese economic actors to view France and Europe as reliable partners.
During the meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, he advocated for a 'Coalition of Independents' to promote prosperity and democratic values, without relying on hegemonic powers like China and the USA.
