French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for common health protocols in the European Union, in the context of the outbreak of hantavirus associated with the cruise ship MV Hondius. Macron stated that France has implemented 'some of the strictest protocols' in Europe and praised the response of the medical system.

Health Minister Stéphanie Rist assured that there is no evidence of widespread transmission of the Andes strain in France, and all confirmed cases are linked to passengers of the ship. One infected patient is in critical condition in Paris, and authorities are monitoring 22 close contacts. Epidemiologist Antoine Flahault described the situation as 'unusual and without precedent', considering that the outbreak is linked to a ship with a limited number of people, thus facilitating the rapid identification of contacts.

WHO reported several cases of hantavirus and three associated deaths.
