A gunman was shot dead by police in London after he forced his way into a residential area and threatened residents.

The incident happened in south-east London when police officers were called to an address where an armed man was trying to force entry. After attempting to converse with him, the armed officers opened fire, killing the suspect. Two residents suffered minor injuries in the attack.
