The President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, stated on Monday on platform X that his country is facing a "fierce and condemnable aggression" from Israel, which is intensifying its offensive against the pro-Iranian Hezbollah. Aoun mentioned the capture of the medieval fortress Beaufort by Israel and promised to make efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese, especially those in the South.


The UN Security Council will meet urgently to discuss the situation in Lebanon at the request of France. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the occupation of Beaufort as a "major turning point" and expressed the intention to extend Israel's control over areas previously held by Hezbollah. At the same time, the Israeli army reported the death of a soldier in the fighting in southern Lebanon, raising the death toll in its ranks to 26 since the beginning of March, most of which were caused by drone attacks from Hezbollah.
