Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stated that former American President Donald Trump's position regarding a lasting agreement in Ukraine has significantly changed under the influence of European states. Lavrov mentioned Trump's promise to seek a long-term peace but emphasized that now only a quick ceasefire is being discussed. He accused Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and European allies of pressuring Washington to prevent direct dialogue with Russia. Lavrov added that Moscow is open to a new summit between Trump and Putin, but that the initiative must come from the Americans. Trump's recent cancellation of the meeting in Budapest was motivated by the desire to avoid unproductive discussions. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the need for serious preparation for such a meeting.
