The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stated that all misunderstandings with the United States regarding Ukraine have been resolved following the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Steve Witkoff at the beginning of December. Although the Kremlin appreciated the meeting as constructive, no significant progress has been made in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Lavrov mentioned that the discussions confirmed the mutual agreements established between Putin and Trump at a summit in Alaska.
Russia expresses its desire to create a lasting peace agreement, including security guarantees for all parties involved. Lavrov emphasized that Russia will not accept Ukraine becoming a NATO member and that it will seek protection for Russian-speaking individuals in Ukraine.
