Serghei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, stated that Great Britain is trying to compensate for its military weaknesses through strategies of division and domination. His comments came following FSB revelations about an alleged British-Ukrainian plot to hijack a MiG-31 aircraft, which was planned to be directed towards the NATO base at Mihail Kogălniceanu. Lavrov emphasized that Great Britain no longer has economic and military power, but continues to seek ways to dominate. The FSB detailed that Ukrainian intelligence services attempted to recruit Russian pilots by offering them large sums of money and Western citizenship, and the plan included provoking a catastrophe during the hijacking. This operation would have been coordinated with British agents and the Bellingcat organization. Lavrov criticized Great Britain for its involvement in this plot, emphasizing that such actions do not reflect the real power of the country.
