Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denounced US President Donald Trump's tariff threats against India, saying sovereign states must choose their economic partners. Trump has warned India of tariffs of up to 25% if it does not halt imports of Russian oil, accusing it of supporting Putin's "war machine". India reacted, accusing the US and EU of hypocrisy and stepping up trade with Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, now importing more than 1.8m barrels a day. The dispute is affecting relations between Washington and New Delhi, creating uncertainty in global energy markets.
