Political crisis in Kosovo: early elections on June 7 called for the third time in 16 months

Kosovo will hold early elections on June 7, for the third time in the last 16 months, after the parliament failed to appoint a new president before the legal deadline. The announcement was made by interim president Albulena Haxhiu, in the context of the end of the term of the former head of state, Vjosa Osmani, at the beginning of April. The political crisis persists after the ruling party, led by Albin Kurti, failed to obtain the necessary majority to elect a new president, thus maintaining the institutional deadlock at a sensitive moment for the country's European path.
