Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kiev, has said that Ukraine could be forced to cede territory in a possible peace deal with Russia under pressure from US President Donald Trump. While acknowledging that such a solution could be temporary, Klitschko stressed that the Ukrainian people would never accept Russian occupation. In the context of the recent Russian attacks on Kiev, he said President Zelensky may have to make a painful decision, but said the details of the negotiations are not in his remit. Klitschko and Zelensky are political adversaries, and tensions between them have been heightened by Trump's recent statements on Crimea.
