Kim Jong Un attended a test of a solid-fuel rocket engine, according to the North Korean official agency KCNA. This engine, intended for the new Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missiles, provides high propulsion power and allows for rapid launches. Experts emphasize that this test reflects North Korea's determination to develop missiles capable of reaching global targets. Kim stated that this test marks an "important phase of change" in the country's defense capabilities. North Korea's nuclear and missile programs are subject to severe sanctions from the UN, and Pyongyang justifies these developments by perceived threats from the United States and its allies, including South Korea. A previous test of this type of engine took place in September 2025.
