Khamenei declared that the halt of Iranian nuclear activities is a "dictate" from the United States, considering the negotiations to be a deadlock. At the same time, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is meeting with European diplomats, as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have activated the "snapback" mechanism for reimposing sanctions if Iran does not comply with the 2015 Nuclear Agreement. Sanctions will be reinstated on Sunday, but Berlin has announced that negotiations will continue. President Macron emphasized the importance of controlling the Iranian nuclear program for stability in the Middle East. Iran claims that its program is peaceful, although uranium is enriched to levels close to those necessary for nuclear weapons.
