Madhesh Ravichandran, an Indian employee at a KFC branch in London, was compensated with approximately 80,000 euros after being harassed and discriminated against by his manager, Kajan Theiventhiram. The court found that Ravichandran was subjected to direct discrimination on racial grounds, harassment, and victimization. During his employment, he was called a "slave" by his boss and was forced to work overtime, while his leave request was denied, influenced by his race.
After hearing the discriminatory comments, Ravichandran resigned, but no investigation was conducted into his complaints. The judge emphasized that the refusal of his leave was significantly influenced by the manager's racial prejudices. The court recommended that Nexus Foods Limited, which operates the branch, take measures to prevent such behaviors in the future.
