The former chess champion and political activist Garry Kasparov stated that Donald Trump's most serious geopolitical mistake was the separation of the wars in Iran and Ukraine, ignoring the connection between the two.
During the On The Record show on TVP World, Kasparov criticized the lack of a coherent strategy from the Trump administration regarding Iran, where there is a fragile ceasefire. He emphasized that the separation of these conflicts has led to a misunderstanding of the strategic picture, considering the link between Tehran's military capability and Russia's support.
Kasparov highlighted the confusion in American policy towards Iran, which has ranged from regime change to issues related to uranium and oil, without providing a clear objective.
He argued that Europe is at war with Russia, and European leaders are beginning to recognize this reality, while Putin continues to pursue the destruction of Ukrainian statehood.
