Recently, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran could use dolphins equipped with explosive mines as part of a strategy to attack American military ships in the Strait of Hormuz. This idea is not new, considering that armies around the world, including the US and Russia, have been using dolphins for underwater operations for decades. Trained dolphins can detect mines and can attack enemies with explosive devices. In the past, Iran has received trained dolphins from the Soviet era, capable of carrying out various missions. The use of dolphins for military purposes was also demonstrated during the Iraq war, when dolphins discovered naval mines. In the context of the naval blockade imposed by the US on Iranian ports, Iran has threatened that it will use these unusual methods to counter American actions.
