On Tuesday, Jordan will host a meeting between Syria and the United States to discuss rebuilding the country and ensuring security after 13 years of civil war.

The meeting will include Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad al-Shibani and US Syria envoy Thomas Barrack to discuss the situation in Syria and ways to support reconstruction. It comes after recent inter-communal violence in Suwayda province, which resulted in a high number of casualties. Syrian minorities fear an offensive by Islamist groups, despite promises of protection from the new authorities.
