The police in Amsterdam, together with Romanian authorities, carried out a major operation on Tuesday evening against a network suspected of human trafficking and pimping, conducted simultaneously in the Red Light District of Amsterdam and in Romania. Following the action, four Romanians were arrested in the Netherlands, and three other individuals, including the leaders of the network, were detained in Romania.
The interventions took place in the Wallen area, where law enforcement carried out searches in several properties. Tourists and locals witnessed the raids, with police using battering rams to gain access to buildings and specially trained dogs for checks. Authorities contacted the suspected victims of the network to provide statements. The investigation has been ongoing for some time, and the police announced that additional information will be available later, considering that the investigations are continuing.
