The Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the deployment of joint military exercises with Russia, which included simulations regarding the use of nuclear weapons.

Last year, Russia deployed nuclear-capable hypersonic missiles in Belarus, and in 2024 it published a revised doctrine that integrates Belarus into the Russian nuclear umbrella. The exercises were mentioned as aimed at practicing the delivery of nuclear munitions and preparing for their use in collaboration with Russia.

Authorities emphasized that the exercise is not intended for third countries and does not constitute a threat to regional security. In the context of these exercises, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the strengthening of the border with Belarus, suspecting a new offensive from Moscow.

Belarus, led by Alexander Lukashenko, remains a close ally of Russia, having a significant economic and military dependence on it. The Kremlin rejected Zelensky's accusations, considering them an attempt to incite.
