Johnny Depp is in advanced negotiations to play the lead role in the film 'Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol', an adaptation of the classic Christmas story written by Charles Dickens.

Directed by Ti West, known for horror films, and with a screenplay written by Nathaniel Halpern, the film will be produced by Paramount and is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026. Andrea Riseborough will have a supporting role, after receiving an Oscar nomination for the film 'To Leslie'. This would be Depp's first collaboration with a major studio since 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' in 2018, when he was fired due to allegations of domestic violence made by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. After winning a defamation trial against her, Depp returned to the public eye with independent projects and upcoming films, including the thriller 'Day Drinker'.
