In his annual speech addressed to the ambassadors of France, Jean-Noel Barrot, the head of French diplomacy, emphasized that the European political organization is in danger, despite its wealth and stability. He rejected the idea of the disappearance of European civilization but acknowledged the external threats and democratic fatigue within the European Union. Barrot mentioned that, according to the U.S. national security strategy, Europe's economic decline is overshadowed by the risks related to the disappearance of civilizational values.
Moreover, he emphasized that the relationship with the United States is not always aligned, highlighting the complexity of the transatlantic partnership. Barrot warned that the future of the European Union is not guaranteed and that it is essential to remain lucid in the face of current challenges.
