American Vice President JD Vance intends to visit Hungary to support nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is in an election campaign for the parliamentary elections in April. This visit comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already been in Budapest to support Orban, who is facing a tight electoral competition.

Polls show that Orban's Fidesz party is declining against the opposition led by Peter Magyar. Vance, considered an active and engaged vice president in foreign policy, may adjust his plans based on international developments, including the conflict between the US and Iran. Orban, an ally of Trump, maintains cordial relations with Moscow and is in conflict with the European Union over issues related to the war in Ukraine. Vance is seen as a potential successor to Trump in the race for the presidency in 2028.
