Japan is facing a state of tension after a strong earthquake of 7.5 magnitude occurred off the coast of Aomori Prefecture. Although the tsunami waves did not exceed 70 centimeters, the Meteorological Agency activated the highest alert level for the risk of a 'megaquake', a situation without precedent since the introduction of this category in 2022. The earthquake occurred approximately 80 kilometers from the shore, injuring at least 23 people and causing significant material damage.

About 90,000 residents received evacuation orders, and chaos ensued on the roads, with traffic jams and accidents. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi convened a crisis cell and urged the population to be prepared for strong aftershocks. Nuclear power plants in the northeast began urgent checks, and authorities recommended that residents prepare for possible evacuations. Japan, located in the 'Ring of Fire' of the Pacific, is one of the most seismically active areas, with thousands of earthquakes annually.
