Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani says Japan is in the most serious and complex security situation since World War II because of the growing military activities of China, Russia and North Korea. The ministry's annual report warns that provocations from China, particularly around the Senkaku Islands and Taiwan, are deeply worrying and the rivalry with the United States is intensifying. China has rejected the accusations, accusing Japan of exaggeration and meddling in internal affairs.
