The Brazilian authorities have decided to place Jair Bolsonaro, accused of preparing a coup, under house arrest. Judge Alexandre de Moraes imposed the measure due to his failure to comply with social media bans. Bolsonaro, who has been absent from rallies by his supporters, faces charges of plotting to undo his 2022 election defeat. Restrictions imposed include the wearing of an electronic bracelet and a ban on cell phone use. Bolsonaro has also been criticized by Donald Trump, who has offered him his support, as tensions between the two administrations grow.
