The Italian Competition Authority, AGCM, has opened two investigations against the companies Sephora and Benefit Cosmetics, both owned by LVMH, for possible unfair commercial practices.

The investigation targets the marketing of cosmetic products intended for adults to children and adolescents, using young micro-influencers on social media. AGCM warns about the premature use of cosmetic products, including facial masks and anti-aging creams, which can contribute to an obsession with skincare among minors.

The authority mentioned that some important information, such as warnings for products unsuitable for minors, could be omitted or presented in a misleading manner.
