UNESCO has recognized Italian cuisine as a world cultural heritage, marking a global first. This distinction refers not only to dishes such as pizza, pasta, or tiramisu, but also to the rituals and traditions that surround cooking and consuming food. Italy is proud of this recognition, which reflects its cultural identity.

Cooking is perceived by Italians as an act of love, a way to share emotions and feelings with loved ones. Pier Luigi Petrillo, the curator of the Italian dossier, emphasizes the importance of passing down recipes from generation to generation. This recognition by UNESCO could bring economic benefits, considering that the number of pizzaiolo schools has significantly increased since 2017, when Neapolitan pizza was included in the world cultural heritage.
