The Israeli ministry stated that, after the completion of the investigation, the two professional activists, Saif Abukeshek from Spain and Thiago Ávila from Brazil, were expelled from Israel.

They were intercepted by the Israeli navy in international waters off the coast of Greece on April 30 and were taken to Israel for interrogation. Following the incident, approximately 175 activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) were quickly released in Greece. Spain, which maintains tense relations with Israel, along with Brazil and the UN, requested the swift release of the two activists.

The ministry did not provide details about the country to which Abukeshek and Ávila were expelled.
