Excavations began at a septic tank in Tuam, Galway, where the remains of children who died between 1925 and 1961 are believed to have been dumped. The Bon Secours Home, which housed unwed mothers, was where many women were separated from their children, who were being raised by nuns. The investigation, led by historian Catherine Corless, aims to identify the remains and provide a dignified reburial, an important step for the victims' families in their search for truth and justice.
