The secret service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning to the population, urging them not to participate in protests, according to reports from Iranian media. The state channel IRIB News broadcast a statement threatening violent repression, more severe than that of December and January, when over 7,000 people were reportedly killed, according to the organization Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRANA).

The protests, initially sparked by a deep economic crisis, have been the largest in recent years. The IRGC stated that it will constantly monitor those it considers "traitors" and accused "the enemy" of attempting to provoke chaos and terror among the population.
