The Iranian authorities warned Bulgaria not to allow the United States to use its airports for planes involved in military operations in Iran. The spokesperson for the Iranian foreign ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, conveyed this message through an official note, emphasizing that Iran reserves the right to take measures to protect its sovereignty.

The Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister, Marin Raikov, confirmed the authenticity of the note but assured that Bulgaria is not involved in war and that there are no American fighter jets on its territory. The warning to Bulgaria came two days after Iran threatened Romania, accusing it of allowing the United States to use military bases for actions against it.

Romania reacted, stating that it is not involved in the conflict in the Middle East and that agreements with the US allow the use of military bases. The presence of American forces in Eastern Europe is considered by Iran a direct threat to its national security.
