Iran has appointed a new interim supreme leader, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, who has been selected as a member of the interim leadership council and will lead alongside President Masoud Pezeshkian and the head of the judiciary.
Alireza Arafi, a high-ranking cleric from Tehran and a member of the Guardian Council, is not the permanent successor to Ali Khamenei, but ensures leadership during this transitional period.
Following the attack that led to the death of Khamenei, the head of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, promised a severe response against the US and Israel, announcing that Iran has already launched missiles at them. Larijani emphasized the importance of national unity and warned against attempts to divide the country.
The war in the Middle East has escalated, and Iran continues to retaliate with attacks on American bases. In Iran, a national mourning has been declared for 40 days.
