The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces issued a statement denying any involvement in the launch of a missile towards Turkey, after the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported that an Iranian missile was shot down by NATO defense systems.

The missile flew over Iraq and Syria before approaching Turkish airspace, but was intercepted without causing casualties.

Turkish President Recep Erdogan emphasized that Turkey will take precautionary measures in collaboration with NATO allies to prevent similar incidents. A Turkish official mentioned that the missile was not intended for Turkey, but is believed to have targeted a military base in Cyprus, but deviated from its trajectory.

Following the incident, Turkey summoned the Iranian ambassador to request explanations. The Turkish Foreign Minister criticized both the US and Israeli-led attacks on Iran, as well as Iran's actions in the region, considering them a misguided strategy.
