The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran confiscated a ship carrying 4 million liters of smuggled fuel, with 16 non-Iranian crew members on board. The incident occurred in the waters of the Persian Gulf, at the time when the tanker was attempting to leave Iranian territorial waters.
State television did not provide details about the identity of the ship or the nationalities of the crew. Iran, known for its low fuel prices, thus becomes an attractive point for fuel trafficking to other countries. Additionally, on December 13, Iran confiscated another tanker in the Gulf of Oman, with 18 crew members from India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh on board.
