Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, accused Israel of being responsible for the drone attacks in Azerbaijan, which resulted in the injury of four airport workers. These attacks are considered by Iran to aim at damaging its relations with Azerbaijan. Araghchi discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Djeyhoun Baïramov, denying Iran's involvement in the attacks and denouncing Israel's role.

The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev described the attack as "terrorist" and threatened retaliation. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense confirmed that four drones were launched from Iran, targeting an airport and a school, while the Iranian General Staff denied these accusations. The ministry demanded an apology from Tehran for the attack on its territory.
