An avalanche hit Broad Peak, one of the highest peaks in the world, and ten international climbers, including team leader Nirmal Purja, are missing.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan received initial information about the incident and confirmed that the team has not had communication since then. Among the climbers are five Nepalese, one Pakistani, one Omani, one American, and one Chinese.

The club's president, Maj Gen Irfan Arshad, is working with government officials to organize a search and rescue operation. Efforts are being made to quickly mobilize helicopters and other rescue resources, depending on weather conditions.

Nirmal Purja, also known as Nims Dai, is a renowned climber who has set records for fast ascents. The Alpine Club of Pakistan is monitoring the situation and expresses solidarity with the families of the climbers and the international climbing community.
