ICE agents from the USA will support security at the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

Agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from the United States will be present in Italy to ensure security at the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, scheduled between February 6 and 22. They will collaborate with the Diplomatic Security Service of the U.S. Department of State and with Italian authorities to assess risks related to transnational criminal organizations.

The president of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, confirmed that the agents will protect the American delegation, led by the U.S. Vice President and Secretary of State. However, the presence of ICE agents has raised concerns in Italy, especially due to controversies related to their previous actions. Deputy Sergio Costa criticized the decision to send ICE agents, considering it an unacceptable political choice.
