The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) met on Wednesday in Vienna, adopting a resolution supported by the USA, which calls on Iran to declare its stocks of enriched uranium and to allow agency inspectors access to them.

This request comes in the context of the attacks from June last year, when the United States and Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, severely damaging uranium enrichment capabilities. Although some facilities were affected, it is believed that a large portion of the radioactive material remained unaffected, having concentrations close to those necessary for atomic weapons.

Iran has not informed the IAEA about its uranium stocks and has not allowed their inspection, thus complicating negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The resolution was adopted with 21 votes in favor, 3 against, and 10 abstentions, with Russia, China, and Niger among those who opposed.
