The President of Hungary, Tamas Sulyok, announced that the legislative elections will take place on April 12, 2026. This will be the first time since Prime Minister Viktor Orban took power in 2010 that he will face a strong opponent from the opposition, Peter Magyar. Magyar's center-right party leads in most opinion polls, suggesting a tight electoral competition. The announcement was made on social media, and the vote will take place on Sunday, giving Hungarian citizens the opportunity to express their vote for the future parliament of the country.
