The EU expects very high oil and gas prices this winter

The European Union does not expect energy supply problems to emerge this winter, but anticipates that oil and gas prices will remain very high, European Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen said in Dublin on Tuesday.

The statement was made during a meeting of energy ministers from the member states, where European officials examined the outlook for the cold season and developments in the energy market.

According to Jørgensen, the availability of energy resources is not expected to be affected this winter, reducing the risk of disruptions or rationing measures. Instead, high oil and gas prices remain the main concern for consumers, businesses and governments.

The warning comes as European countries continue to strengthen their energy security and reduce their vulnerability to international market developments. The outlook presented in Dublin points to stable supplies, but at significant cost.
