A tourist helicopter crashed in central Kenya. The head of the intelligence service from Ecuador, among the victims.

A tourist helicopter crashed on Wednesday morning near Mount Ololokwe, 250 kilometers north of Nairobi, resulting in the death of all seven people on board. Among the victims are Michele Sensi-Contugi, the head of the intelligence service in Ecuador, and his wife, Stephany Hollihan, along with five American citizens.

The helicopter, operated by Lady Lori Helicopters, caught fire after the crash, and rescue teams found no survivors. Sensi-Contugi, aged 44, was a close associate of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa and had a varied professional background, including in the fashion industry. The Ecuadorian Minister of Infrastructure expressed condolences, and the National Assembly of Ecuador decided to lower the flag to half-mast for three days.

Among the five deceased Americans is also Jose Alberto Suarez, a senior official at Telemundo. The U.S. Embassy is working with local authorities to provide consular assistance. Kenyan investigators have been sent to the scene to investigate the causes of the accident.
