The heatwave in France that began on Friday is intensifying, with 12 departments on red alert, including Charente-Maritime and Gironde. Meteorologists are predicting exceptional temperatures of up to 42°C in some areas, although the national record of 48°C could remain intact. Another 41 departments are on orange alert and the public health agency recommends staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous physical activity.
